    Squeaky Rear....

Hi Guys, I've noticed a sort of squeaking noise fom the rear of my car which could be the leaf? springs or suspension in need of a squirt of WD40 or summat like that. Does anyone know the cause of this other than age (66K on clock) / maintainence schedule in this area which has probably never...

HID Earth Electrodes - Up or Down ?!

Hi MeatyChi, I removed the headlights and I don't believe it is possible to replace the OE bulbs with HID bulbs - and ***ociated kit - without doing this although I believe some have ? It is fairly easy to do even for a rank amateur like me ;-) Good luck !!

J4JAV, Will they not break ?! The electrode is wire at the top but ceramic fixed into the plastic base so it will only move at a slight angle. Are you sure ?! Cheers I

HID Earth Electrodes - Up or Down ?!

It ain't just me...more posts on another different users forum here >> http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?18773-HID-shadow-in-light-pattern-*solved* in addition to the VW one posted above. My investigations will continue unabated......it is minor but nonetheless annoying so needs...

HID Earth Electrodes - Up or Down ?!

Brett, Thanks for the point in the right direction. From what I've been reading here >> http://www.passatworld.com/forums/68-b5-garage/301826-way-do-i-put-my-hid-bulbs.html these owners suggest the electrode should face down in projector lenses to avoid the shadows we are all experiencing ...

HID Earth Electrodes - Up or Down ?!

Having completed an install of 6000K HID's at the weekend I have become aware of two small shadows in front of the car which further (google) research suggests is due to the earth electrodes pointing up in the bulb holder when they should be pointing down. Having tried to rectify this tonight I...

    Fitting HID's

Cliff, Night Breakers in the high beams is a good idea for a little extra lift - did you notice much change to the OE bulbs ? PS. I got my dipped HID's fitted today - what a difference !! Just back from a 40 mile test run and no "flashes" to speak of - bring on the bad weather I say (but not...

    Fitting HID's

Yeah I was at this for a while you'll find the bumper is wedged in there pretty firmly such you will need to apply a good bit of measured force to free it. I got my fingers in around the back and tugged it off bit by bit - the clamps that hold it in place are pretty strong. You'll find a reply...

    Fitting HID's

Hi CLiff, I got very close to completing this yesterday (removing bumper etc) but came unstuck trying to locate the final bolt to remove the headlamp (location queried on the original thread). That and heavy rain was forecast so I had put whole thing back together. I didn't realise that the top...

Headlight removal and part of the bumper

Many thanks Faz for taking the time to write this up it inspired me to "have a go this afternoon" getting oh so near yet so far to completing the task. Unfortunately for me I came unstuck trying to find this mysterious fourth bolt that holds the headlamp ***embly in place ? I am working on an...

    Fitting HID's

Thanks Cliff ! I note that post deals with removing and replacing the headlamps themselves such I would question is it necessary to go this far when all we want to do is fit the HID kit to existing lamps (get cover off to drill hole etc) ? I can see the benefit of them being out of the way when...
