2001 1.8 sport. Only 91k and has in the last two months had a cambelt kit,aux belt and water pump. In addition to this it has 4 brand new (less than 500 miles) GT Radial tyres.

Here's the rub....

It has failed its mot on:

Offside front suspension lower ball joint has excessive play

Offside front suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded.

Nearside front suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded.

Front to rear brake pipes excessively corroded.

Nearside rear brake binding.

O/s and n/s handbrake recording little or no effort.

Basically, I'm just trying to claw back some money so I thought I'd put it up on here to gauge interest before I take the wheels off and stick it on eBay (the horror!) Or scrap it, which I think would be a shame given the low mileage and recent cambelt and water pump. (£300!)

I'll put some photos up tomorrow.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about the car, especially as you've invested time and money into her. Unfortunately, I reckon you'll not get much for her - they go pretty cheap on eBay for serviceable ones. If you like the 6th gen, then maybe snap one up with a year's MOT.
On MOTs, mine passed back in April, but with advisories of a similar nature, namely the corrosion to front suspension mounting prescribed area, but 'not excessive'. So fellow owners, what preventative measures can I take now in anticipation of my next MOT? And where am I looking for this 'prescribed area' if I get under her? Can I just give the 'area' a brush-up and slap on some Waxoyl ie hide it?
