So i went and had a look at this car last night. I looked at the advice provided by Fahad, prior to viewing. The service history is by independents, mainly. There was one advisory on the last MOT which was the front suspension, which has been replaced. Now i know little about cars, so you are going to have to bare with me, when i had the bonnet up and put my foot on the accelerator there was a whining noise which was a higher pitch than the normal diesel engine noise, is this normal?

I also tested for clutch slip, this was down an A road though, I put it in 4th and got it up to 2000 revs and if felt fine.

There was also a bit of engine noise in the cabin, not rattling though, it may have been due to the stereo being off. Also he mentioned that this model didnt have a DWP? is this important or does it make no odds?

Thank you in advance for any help you offer.

Jez

Edit: Otherwise it drove very nicely and didnt feel like a an estate car.

honda diesels engines sounds different then other diesels, mainly because there is timing chain instead of rubber belt which makes it more noisy, also sometimes alternator bearings may be noisy as well, there is no dpf in this models so you don't have to worry about that which is advantage imho, if there is service history it should be fine as long as they used correct oil grade 0w30, if there is no clutch slip, or any warning lights cars should be ok.

The turbo on the i-CTDi does sound odd, most people comment on it at some point, it's variable geometry or something clever.

Thank you guys, that has put my mind at rest. A little. Now i just need to find a price that we can agree upon.
