hi guys, ive been offered a 4th gen 2.2 prelufe engine to put in my 2002 accord sport 1.8. will this fit and if so what else would be needed to make it run right? advice needed as my wife killed my engine in a flash flood in our village. cheers. dave

I'm no mechanic, but there are plenty of Ludes running an H22a7 so in the same respect an H22/a2/a5 should drop into a 6g Accord.
There are also a few 5G Accords running H22s too.
What gearbox does the Lude have? If it is a Jap import it may have LSD.
I bought a Lude with the intention of dropping the H22a5 into my CC7 (F20z1), but fell in love with Lude and kept them both!

What's the engine code for the engine you've been offered? As it's a 4th Gen engine it won't be a straight swap as the OBD interfaces aren't the same, your Accord should be OBDII, the Prelude engine OBDI. So you'll have to get a bit creative with the wiring at some point, to marry up the engine, ECU and dials. I'm doing it myself currently with no previous experience, it's a bit touch and go for me :lol:
As for the physical swap, the front and rear mount are a direct match on both engines. The gearbox mount you'll have to remove from the Accord, as well as the bracket on the gearbox. These fit straight to the gearbox on the Prelude engine. The passenger side mount is problematic - the Prelude mount isn't a straight fit onto the Accord's mounting point, but the Accord mount isn't a straight fit on to the Prelude engine either. Online guides said this wasn't the case, but the studs on the bracket are very different - this weekend I'm stripping the H22 back further to figure out if I can get the Accord bracket on, however at a glance it looks like it'll need fabricating :/ drive shafts are a straight fit though, so that's something :lol:

An H22 will fit pretty much straight into a 6th gen Accord dude.

cheers guys, not sure on the code atm but it a 4th gen lude. a mate would be doing the work for me but atm mo it just a thought as I get married in a couple weeks so all my cash somewhat tied up. whats hond-R's number? def thinking of saving for the swap as I drive a facelift hatchback and they dont come with the type r 2.2 option :-(

With regard to the FI setup i personally spent a LONG TIME looking into this for my old 2.0 SE. It can be done and will cost around £6K. Then there's the question of how reliable it will be.
Unless i'm mistaken the 4th gen ludes came with the H22A5 engine.
