2.4 Flexi pipe blowing

Hi folks, recently joined and decided to try and get my first bit of help.

My 2003 2.4 type s is due its mot at the end of the month and the flexi pipe is blowing slightly and
was wondering on the best approach to fixing it.
I am going to be getting the car booked in for a custom exhaust in a couple of months so I was thinking
about putting one of the flexi repair sections on that are around the net for sale to get it through the mot.

Any ideas much appreciated.

Also whats with the tapered studs on the joins in the exhaust system? Is this still the original system from factory?
Quite corroded so cant really get a decent look at them until I get it up on the ramps.

u can get flexi pipes cheap on ebay, get a mechanic to put one on? not a big job. The old one will need to be sawn off. Best to make sure its done gently to prevent any damage occurring to the rest of the exhaust system.

But then again if any cracks develop post-cat you know the exhaust is not in the best of condition.

Thanks for the reply Eric, looks like a cheap option for a quick fix so going to give it a try.
Got a mig in work van so if I can get the exhaust of easy enough I will give it a go.
