I've had a 2.4 type s tourer for a while now.
Only just started tracking mpg.

I use the car to commute around 100 mile round trip a day, 90% motorway on the m1 and m25.

Generally sit at 65/70 on cruise.
The best I seem to be able to get is circa 32mpg over a full tank.
Best I've got is 35mpg. Or about 450miles to a tank full...

What are you all managing from the 2.4s?

Is anyone managing better than this?

How if so? :)

Cheers!

30mpg, mainly town driving, but a mixture.

Best I've ever managed was 45mpg on a 350 mile trip to Cornwall, 2 adults, 1 child and a fully loaded boot.

my mpg reading is 29.3 i drive from gants hill to old street threw rush hour on a stick 2.4 cl9 exec. on weekend i drive to bham still reading 29.4 i take a longer root m11 > a14 > m6 over m11 > m25 > m6 this is due to avoided speed cameras and normally do about 110 threw most the a14.

i spend a lot on petrol but my argument is whats the point of having a reliable car if i will only use it on the weekends :)

113250 on the clock 06 :D bought July 2013 on 55,000

45mpg is absolutely insane!

are you sure that's accurate?!
Can you imagine what a 350mile trip is like? Mine is only a 2.0 auto, but i managed a few times to get between 45-50. Depends on speed, weather conditions… So i think it's possible

i am doing 250 tomorrow wwill try echo driving see if my mpg ulters 70mph in 6th

Full tank to red light coming on I'm doing 300 miles this is A B roads and town driving. On the motorway I was able to get 400 miles till red light.

Yep. I drive across Europe very regularly.

To be averaging 45mpg you'd have to be getting over 500 miles from your tank before the light comes on.

Has anyone achieved this?

Or is it just a guess at what you think you've got on certain stretches?

Interested to know :)

Measured over two tanks, 27mpg when doing the 9 mile 30mph commute and 35mpg when doing motorway runs of 90 miles at a time. 2.0 manual

I have seen 45mpg, over my 28 mile journey to work. This is with cruise on and set to 60mph there is a couple of hilly parts and one 40 mph area through a village, i just change down and resume cc when through the village into the national speed limit. Most of the time i see 38-42mpg both directions. My mate also has the same Accord 2.4 EX 2007. and he only mananges 32mpg on his 6 mile trip into work and not much better on a small run say 20 miles or so.

I have to laugh when I hear journeys of 250, 300 miles. That would be heaven and done without stopping, every other week my commute to work is 505 miles and for that I only stop for 5 minutes around the half way mark.

I average about 70mph over the whole journey and get about 36mpg in both my 1.8 2002 Accord and my 2.0 2005 Accord.

Got my mpg up to 29.7 woop woop 250ish miles m11 > m25 > m1 > m6 london to bham and back. I am hearing a weird grunting noise as my car pulls from stationary to about 5mph before that atarted my mpg use to be 36...

Do you have a high mileage car? And do you check your tire pressure regularly?

I keep the fuel economy of my cars in a big database, so i don't need to lie about it. My 2007 2.0 auto did the most miles on a yearly trip to my wife's family in Bristol (belgium-bristol) and it did 512,5miles before fueling up. Trip back did 500 miles. Both on a average of 40,1 and 37mpg.

Car's fully packed with 2 adults.

It's probably not, that was just going off the cars readout.

But the trip from Derby to Cornwall is 90% motorways or dual carriage ways, so 65ish on cruise control the whole way, so low 40's is probably reasonable.

My 2.4 auto does 21mpg around town and 30mpg on long motorway journeys if I stick to 65-70mph.

My 2.4 manual is showing 34.8 mpg over the 10,000 miles I've covered since buying it. My own calculations show this to be not far off. This is mixed driving - M'way + rural A & B roads. Some urban crawl, but a fairly small percentage. It's better than I imagined it would be.
