Just been out to pick my boy up from the nursey, when i start the engine up straight away i can hear a loud whinning noise coming from the engine bay and then the red battery symbol came on the dash along with 'check system'.
i've looked up in the manual this is something to do with the charging system, so i looked around under the bonnet and noticed the alternator is getting very very hot.
so does this mean my alternator is knackered?
car has done 71k miles on a 07 plate.
