Guys iv just got back from a weekend away in the caravan.
I would just like to give the performance figures of my new car against my old one a 2.2 06 diesel.
Buy the way guys this is not a compilation between petrol and diesel.
Ok as for pulling power there was not much difference between the 2 car imo.
Both cars liked to cruse in 5th gear better than 6th.
The handling in the 8th gen was better than my 7th gen imo.
Now the big question fuel :rolleyes:
In my 7th gen i was AVG 30 MPG which is a big drop from 50 plus solo.
In the petrol i was AVG 24 MPG and solo on a run around 36 MPG.
So to be honest the fuel when towing my new car was very good imo.
 
Interesting figures bud...are they calculated or obc?

What is pulling away like?
 
Brett - it looks like in both cases you were getting around 60 odd percent of what you could expect solo.

Interesting that the pulling power seemed similar as it's seen as one of the big advantages of torquey diesel engines that they tow better.
 
Dan the figures were taken from the trip computer.
cliff the only difference i think was pulling power at 60 mph.
my old car you nether had to change down to over take.
with the new car to have good pull to over take it was better to drop down a gear

to be honest i don't think the fuel is that bad for a big engine.
Im happy anyway lol

thanks fahad and to be honest mate the wife and i have been talking about putting the caravan on an all year pitch.
this i think might be a good plan as we have been saying this for years.
