Hi,
I'm after replacing my alternator - had to do that due to noisy bearings. Never had any issues with charging, got almost new battery fitted at Honda. Normally I wouldn't had noticed that there is something weird after replacing an alternator as the battery light disappears when I start the engine, also engine cranks as it should and never had any problems with starting. Basically when the engine is running sometimes my alternator does charge at 14.2 which is normal but sometimes does not charge at all or charging at 13.2v - i've read that is should be a constant voltage of between 14V-14.4V so I ***umed that my new alternator is faulty. Since it's still under warranty (got refurbished one) I wanted to have it swapped and then I spoke with one of their technicians that sad that they never had a problem like I have, they are supplying their stuff for euro car parts and selling hundreds of them, he said that since my battery light disappears from the dashboard after starting an engine and i don't have any symptoms of a weak battery and also I have a 4way plug on my alt which is apparently controlled by an ECU when to charge or what voltage to charge. Is that true ?? Do i-cdti accords have "smart charging" alternators? I'm attaching few videos of my problem. Please let me know is that behaviour normal. Thanks in advance

Alternator charges only when necessary. It is not constantly charging, hence it works only on request by the system, or simply when current is lower than X, alternator kicks in and charges. When current X is reached, then alternator rests.
