hi I have owned my 2004 2.2 I-ctdi saloon for about 18 months. its covered 103k and has full service history. It has started to develop a few problems.

1. Vibration when accelerating in gear or in neutral
2. slightly noisy timing chain
3. annoying squeaking noise from passenger side front.
4. oil leaking from filter
5. loud whine. only started to do this when I had 4 new tyres fitted

any info on these problems is greatly appreciated

thanks
daniel

1. Could be a failing DMF. Did you ever have this replaced when having the clutch replaced?

2. What makes you think the noise is the timing chain? Have you tried removing the auxiliary belt to check that it isn't something driven by the aux belt?

3. I get that! I've replaced the upper control arm and the droplinks, but the noise remains... it could be the lower ball joint?

4. That's unusual, the first time I changed the oil I fitted the replacement O-ring into the wrong slot on the oil filter cover, but when I saw there was a slight leak after a long drive I simply did it up tighter (by hand) and the problem corrected itself.

5. Maybe it's the new treads bedding-in?

Thanks for the reply.
The dmf has never been replaced. Is there any way to test without removing gearbox
I will remove aux belt and have a listen
It's due a service in the next month or so so will change oil/ filter and clean it up and see if still leaks.
and as for the tyres I'm just gna have to put up with it
Thanks
Daniel
