2004 Ictdi saloon tapping noise

Hi the engine on my 2004 accord has just started making a really loud tapping noise. It get louder with more revs, I don’t think it’s the timing chain! Any ideas what else it could be

It has covered 110k with full service history

Why do you not think its the timing chain?

Has it had the mod to remove the extra idler pulley on the fan belt which causes the alternator bearings to wear?

I’ve already had timing chain failure on previous engine and I replaced the engine with a 2006 accord one. It sounds like a glow plug has been taken out but the car still drives smooth and doesn’t feel under powered. I think it could be a injector. Is there any way to test which injector without removing one as they are a pain to remove

Probably an injector leak. Just lift off the cover and run the engine and have a look and listen it will be quite obvious which one it is.
