gen 7 tourer
well finally bouth a 2004 accord tourer 76k on the clock and fsh :)

few scuffs on the bumper but ill be getting that sorted ( electric blue colour ? )

tailgate works off the fob opens and close , but only after car been started. stop . press tailgate on fob and it opens and closes fine.

try again and nothing,

works manually and closes from the button on the boot

lock car go shopping , come back , wont open on the fob , unless car started , stoped then press fob it will work .
no biggie but be nice to have it working :)

struts keep the boot up fine and no warnings on the dash :)

any ideas ?

apart from that , great car , glad i went for a honda accord , finally :)

Disconnected negative terminal. Left 10 mins...same

is there a set sequence to try ?

works perfectly after stopping car get out..opens and closes via fob

am i right. In thinking should work...walk to car . Unlock press tail gate fob button and all should work ?

The car need to be unlocked first. So the sequence to a locked car is to:

1. Press the unlock button: car unlocks indicator flashes
2. Press and HOLD the boot open button, about 2 seconds later, chirp sound, indicators flash, boot opens

..
From open (car is unlocked)

3. Press and HOLD the boot open button, chirp sound, indicators flash, boot closes.

Hi thanks for reply.

actually meant the sequence to try a reset ?

drive car. Stop. Turn off . Get out .
boot opens and closes with the fob perfectly. U can hear the chirp also.
Try again a minuite later. It opens with the fob but wont close with fob. Gotta use the button on the boot to close.
seems intermittant . But guaranteed to work after car been running.

lock car come back ten mins later. Car unlocks with fob. But boot dkesent work with the fob.

does only seem perfect after turning off ignition.

wonder if it could be battery in fob ? Only one fob though

possibly a power drain issue but yet it works off the button inside the boot every time

There's no specific reset procedure for the tailgate ECU, it's pretty much a sensor check anyway. A power disconnect normally does it.

Surely, changing the batter in the fob is the easiest option?

Otherwise, it's onto a HDS to troubleshoot.

All sorted , seems to work every time when directly behind the car :)

thanks anyhow :)

hds ?

HDS = Honda Diagnostic System. A computer system that connects directly to the car and can diagnose each components and sub-component of the car.

Generally, only available at Honda dealers.

Did you check the battery in the fob?

not checked the battery but i am going to change anyhow along with hopefully getting a replacement fob as only have the one key unfortunatly.

***uming fobs can be coded provided u have an original ?

got dash command and torgue along with a Bluetooth obd2 reader...no codes stored :)

The HDS will show codes on sub-systems that you won't see with a Torque/ELM327 combination. No matter if you're happy with the operation.

Re the coding of the new key, the car is coded for the key rather than the other way around. That is the security ID of the key is programmed (via HDS :) ) into the ECU. So there in no master key that gets copied

Got ya .. i think :)

just could realy do with a spare key :)
