Have the Timing Chain and tensioner issues of the earlier CDTI engine been resolved on the 06 models?

Having had to change the chain and tensioner on a 2004 engine I am not up to have to do it again on an 06.

I like the spec of the car and the idea of the 6 speed box but the time/cost of changing the chain is a real stopper.

I think the real issue was the poor design of the tensioner rather than the chain but Honda Technical won't comment.

Chris the timing chain issue is only on the pre facelift.
The chain has been modified on the facelift model.

As with Brett - but oil changes and grade are still as vital as ever so check the car's history.

I have an 06 accord (registered March 06) is it facelift model ?
how can you tell ?

Yes there are a number of thigs like different grill, headlights and multiple other thiings, but on the diesel the 6th gear is a big giveaway. the pre-facelift was only available in 5 speed

I tend to just check the grill, silver bar across the middle is facelift.
