Hello all, I don’t post on here much but I am sad enough to picture everything I do to my cars, so someone might find this useful and/or useless:
Shortly after my fuel tank re-furb, the exhaust blew at the join between the car and centre section. The rest was in pretty poor condition so I replaced the lot (you can see in some of the pictures below).
Once I’d done that, I jumped in, went for a drive and noticed the brake pedal slowly went to the floor...fantastic.
Diagnosed it to be rotten brake lines that run the length of the car:
When I took off all the 'protective' casing, it turned out the fuel lines were crumbly too. At each point where the plastic clips to the pipes, it had rubbed over time and caused them to rust:
So cut them all out:
Join in new sections of pipe and replace steel fuel lines with rubber hoses; Either end of the brake lines are fine so to save some grief I decided to only replace the middle sections:
While I was there I gave the underside a quick scrub and threw some satin black on it to smarten it up and sort some of the rusty bits:
So that’s that, hope it helps someone.
