8th gen. / Sunroof / Wind deflector / Rusty leaf spring

[Rusty-nail]

One of the sunroof's popup wind deflector's leaf springs (passenger side) is rusting.
I want to remove this piece of rusty metal and treat the rust to prevent it rusting any further and snapping.
Has anyone dis-***embled the wind deflector ?
Tips ?
