Accord 2.4 Ex
Good morning.
I'm no mechanic but I can perform simple repairs and service my vehicle without help. It's still a long way away from thinking about an engine swap, so I have come to this forum for a little bit of advice.
I currently have the K24A3 190PS engine, completely stock etc. and was wondering how much of a job it would be to swap it with a K20A2 found in the Civic Type R. Would the gearbox need to be changed too? I am not too keen with the stock ratios as I'm doing nearly 3,000rpm at 70mph in 6th. I change gears when the Rev counter is at 2,000rpm or bit higher depending on the gradient.
Would the manifold/exhaust need to be modified as the Civic Type R has one main outlet while the Accord 2.4 has a split exhaust? Or would a remap be more of an option and less of a job? Bearing in mind mine's a 55 plate and I've heard that remapping the pre-facelift models is trickier and very few garages I've looked at can't do it.

Sorry for the noob questions, but hopefully I can get some sobering answers to my weird idea.

Thanks :)

Going to a K20 would be a step backwards for what you want.

Look in the "Performance Modification Reviews" section, there's a thread there about K24 Remap. It can be done, "ukcl9" is the uk representative, he will probably be along in a bit, and/or send him a PM

The remap gives a tad more power at the top end, and more torque mid-range. If you want to do something about the gear ratios (it's not clear what the issue is), you can swap the gearbox.

the cl9 gearbox housing stays.but you can stick in any ep3/dc5 gears and lsd.

i have ep3 1-5 cl9 6th and cl9 fd.but i wished i had used ep3 fd instead

changing the exhaust manifold to littbo header or weapon r header from heeltoeautomotive.com will give good gains aswell.
