Accord i-cdti '04
i have a 2004 accord i-cdti with a rattley timing chain it looks like it falls outside of the extended warranty so i'm goin to have to fix it myself. did a search for a haynes manual and their is nothing available for a diesel accord however their is for a 2.2 i-cdti CR-V my question is do both of these vehicles have the same engine therefore would a cr-v manual be sufficient to work on an accord? seems logical honda would have used the same gubbins for both machines??

any help would be much appreciated

Yes, I believe they do have the same engine and that engine is also shared with the Civic

The engines are not identical but I'm not aware of every single difference. I can tell you for example that the CRV has two EGR valves (front and side), a much bigger airbox and intake and possibly revised inlet manifold.

I think for general maintenance it should be a sufficient manual and the timing chain setup would be similar if not the same.

thanks guys i'll take a chance on the haynes i'll take a few photos and maybe do a guide for the timing chain replacement over the next few weeks

Best of luck Willy taken on a job like this.

Good luck Willy,

If you don't mind could you do a little write up of your experiences when doing the job, it could help others or put them off attempting it.

Fingers crossed the injectors come out OK for you.

One thing to remember either put each injector in a separate numbered bag, so you know which one goes back where, or worst case and you have to replace one or more, you will need to get them re-coded with the HDS.
