Did a 80 mile run in my Accord today , stopped to get something to eat and when I returned every time I tried to put it in reverse it keep popping out , even with me trying to hold the gear stick in reverse position , its a 2007 6 speed Accord Ctdi , could this be the gear linkages or the gearbox broken , all other gears work fine

If all other gears are fine Gaz I would say as a guess it's your gear linkages at fault.

Hope it is only that , it will go into reverse easily but as soon as I release the clutch and it bites it pops out

Does it feel like it's going into reverse as 'completely' as it always did?

The cables going into the gearbox can easily be seen if you remove the air filter box, you'd be able to see if one was frayed. If you pull out the ashtray you can shine a torch in and check the gearstick selector rods are moving OK and not flapping about as you move the gearstick, the bushes can wear where the selectors go through the bulkhead... I remember Jayok had to do something with his car that involved using a milk bottle screw top to tighten up the bushing.

I think Jon might be right, if its just happened out of the blue I would say a cable/linkage issue

I'll take the air filter box out tomorrow and have a proper look , it only feels like it's going half way in ( can't feel it drop in properly )

Had it looked at today by a local garage and they said reverse gear is broken so im now on the look out for a 2nd hand 6 speed gearbox

Can't you repair or refurbish it with a new bearing? It could save you some money if that's possible

Probably just better to get a gearbox out of a low mileage breaker car as my car has now done 150k
