Is it essential to run Accord Type r's on 98 octane?
What would happen, were someone to fuel up on regular 95 octane?
Thanks

Not sure but Si will answer this for sure

Is yours a facelift or a pre, if its a pre then vpower is the only one and don't use anything under 98 RON.

Over on the atr forum there have been reports of some problems.
Also try and avoid supermarket fuels, you can't go wrong with vpower. BP ultimate is 97 so you may get away with this if theres no shell around like on the mororway or something.

Thanks so much man, I guess the economy is better on 98+ anyways because the car was optimized for it

Yep the pres are mapped to run on 98. You could get a post and use regular unleaded.

Run it on 99 vpower. Anything less is ***. Tesco 99 if you ate desperate. If you are worried about the price of vpower, you shouldn't be looking at an ATR.

You will get to know the petrol station cashiers by their first names and even end up inviting them to bbqs and weddings, they will become like close family members to you.

I'm not so worried about the price as the supply, most of the garages around here are jet and bp

Right,

Shiny is pretty much spot on. The pres' should always be run on 98+ fuels. The posts can be rin on either as they have 2 maps (or something to that effect anyway). But the pres' should only be run on higher octane fuel. If not it can cause knocking, pinking, pre detonation and in certain circumstances, death of the engine.

Also with a higher octane fuel you should see marginally better MPG, but then again, you'll always want to be in Vtec  BP ultimate has gotten some bad press but it's actually a rather good fuel. It's the same stuff that Sainsburys have in their higher octane petrol. The Tesco stuff has fewer additives than Vpower which make it less 'agreeable' than Vpower. But IMO ANY H22 should always be runb on Vpower.
