So ive got an accord in the worksop this week with a snapped timing chain was wondering what peoples thoughts were on fitting after market chains are they any better than the honda ones.

Like all spares from Honda, there will be better aftermarket options, as well as worse ones... all you can say about Honda parts is that they will be of an adequate standard. In any case, I doubt that Honda actually make the chains so it makes sense to seek out good quality alternatives. Febi Bilstein have a good reputation... I've been looking at replacement options and I believe these are the right ones:

A little more expensive, but these are definitely are the right ones:

I understand that the kits from Honda are around £500?

Yes its the Febi one that ive used looks to be good quality i need to do the chain on mine and was looking at the options but i will be changing both the cam and pump chain at the same time.

Yes will do im going to take 3 days off early in the new year and the boss is letting me lone a ramp so i can sort it. The last one i did only took me just under a day also the boss is looking at doing a set price for this job on the honda's as we are starting to get a few of our customers with dodgy chains. We are located in Cheltenham if any one is interested in having this done and not paying an arm or a leg to do it.
cheers Al

Great, I look forward to an update... I'm worried that the injectors might have to be removed in order to get the timing case off? And whether any special tools are required for setting the tensioners? And I've not seen any aftermarket tensioners or sprockets anywhere.

Actually, Cheltenham isn't too far away...

You will have to pull the injectors as the cam cover needs to come off to remove the front cover. Ash who's the boss and my self have been talking about doing this for quite a while. Myself and Ash are both time served subaru mechanics and combined we have over 60 years of mechanical know how we also have about 20k's worth of diagnostic equipment and also the kit to code honda injectors if we need to. If Fahad dosnt mind ill put a link in to our website if people want to contacts us for pricing on this job.
