hi guys
i went to get my aircon serviced...£65 at main dealer which i was very happy with.

went to pick the car up and they had not serviced it because of an electrical fault which at that point they couldnt trace.

basically, the aircon hasnt worked in a while, ive had the car maybe 6 months now, and to find the fault they have quoted me three hours labour, £300.

is it worth looking elsewhere to get this done.....i use a local independent garage for services and MOTs.....or should i bite the bullet and let the honda boys do it?

cheers

phil

That sounds a rip off imo. Also if they find the fault there will a cost to fix it and parts.

I had a problem with my air con recently,if your ok with basic electronics you could have a go yourself.i opened the main fuse box and pulled out the 3 grey relays ***ociated with the aircon.they were the same values so I swapped them around and hey presto my aircon worked again!
At some point I will take the relays out again and stick a 12 volt battery across the 2 trigger points on each of the relays and put a multimeter across to the switching points to check that the relays are switching.i suspect these relays either stick in one position or the contacts inside become pitted and therefore don't connect properly.a replacement relay will be below £15 I'm sure.

£300? What a rip off. I had a fault with A/C recently as well, gonna post my woes in separete topic. Don't let them do it for that price, it is unbeliavable (I had it done for free at Honda Poland,). Try Neil's advice, mine fault (among others) was faulty pressure sensor, A/C wouldn't kick in. Dan
