Alarm issue.

Hi Guys, long time no post got my 01 Accord 2.3 TypeV back from my Mums last night after 9 months of storage, the Alarm goes off without any provocation at about 17-18 seconds after locking the car!
And when the system is armed the indicators flash three times, I can't remember if that's the correct thing.

Now I have a couple questions, is there anything obvious to check?

I've fiddled around with the fuses and have found if you remove fuse 13 in passenger side interior fuse box (labelled "clock back up") the alarm system and remote central locking is disabled,
along with interior lights and instrument panel lights.

Now I can just carry on pulling this fuse, but it'll be a bit of a ball ache! Or is there anyway of disabling the Alarm without all the other bits being disabled as well?

Hello Rob

I would check that all the door pins that operate the interior lights etc are functioning correctly. Could be that one has seized or malfunctioned whilst being in storage.

Just simple checks like that, also if you have sensors in the car give them a light clean with a brush attachment on a hoover to just pull off any dust or anything. Obviusly make sure you are carefull not to damage the sensor in any way.
 
^ as above, plus you might need a new battery in the alarm.

Also, how old is the main car battery, if that "droops" quickly after turning off, and the alarm battery is old/dead, then that's what is causing the problem.

I presume you mean "where is the alarm in my car" , I don't know where the alram is even on my car, someone else might be able to tell you where the alarm is in your car.

One thing you can try is this. If you have a battery charger, try connecting the charger to the main car battery and then see if the alarm goes off when you lock the car. If the alarm does not go off, then this indicates that the problem is related to both batteries. You can try charging the main car battery overnight on the charger, either in the car or out of the car, and see if this helps. If the car is parked on a driveway and you leave the charger overnight under the bonnet with the car locked and the alarm on, if you're lucky, the alarm battery might also recover. It's not recommended to leave a car battey charging in-circuit on a car so I take no responsibility if something goes wrong, but I've done this many times myself on many cars (including my Accord) without any problems. Just be very very careful where you put the charger under the bonnet, and how you close the bonnet on the mains extension lead, and remove it all in the morning before starting the car :eek:
 
Sorted! It was the bonnet sensor! Now isolated and it seems to be behaving itself
