How to respray alloys!
Bought a set of OEM Speedline Motegi alloys from Pfeek114, in fair condition but did need a respray!
First of all I had the tyres whipped off then gave them a good clean and de-grease
the centre caps were a bit of a mess the paint was peeling off.
so a good rub down with wet and dry around 600 grit to start
few layers of primer with a good key inbetween coats around 800grit, the centre caps needed plastic primer which needs to set good and hard.
time for paint, I originaally thought I'd stick to Metallic silver as near to OEM as I could find
few coats and keyed with 1200 grit inbetween.
but leaving the lacquer off for a flat finish
so there we go full refurb cost me £30 I think?
as Most of you are aware my nice new paint was wrecked by some Cretin in a car wash using neat acid and not rinsing it thoroughly, so they were re-re-furbed about a month later ending up shiny gloss black
