Hi both of my headlight lenses are scratched and have a couple of bullseye marks in so need replacing. Searched high and low for replacement lenses with no luck so am thinking replacement of whole units. If I'm spending that sort of money on it I may as well upgrade to some nice looking angel eye lights or drl's. Any ideas where I can buy these from? Doesn't seem to be many places catering for accords.

Little to nothing like that out there.Wanted the same thing myself but only option was getting a custom set made up.Just too expensive for me given age of car.

Not that hard to pick up another set of lights (so you don't have to rush or take the car off the road) then split them yourself and add the angle eyes and drl. Can also go with devil eyes, some blacking out or sequential indicators for completly unique lights. Basic wiring is required but not hard at all.

Sell your original lights when new ones are finished and it's not that expensive a modification.

I did consider modding but i found gaining access to inside lens impossible. The front and back sections are glued solid..i tried heat but no way i could soften it up to enable me to seperate.Im sure it can be done i just dont know how

3 options 15mins inside the oven, I didn't use this method as it wasn't worth the ear ache.

I used a heat gun directing it into the seal go round for about 10 mins then using a couple of flat head screwdrivers u should be able to separate them slowly and keep using the heat gun.

Another option I've heard of is a cardboard box big enough for lights put a whole in the side for the heat gun to fit in and then seal the top while the the heat gun is running.

I did consider my heatgun but 650° and plastic seemed a little risky lol.Well at least i know it can be done as youve shown so i guess finding a perfect fitting angel eye that fits snug around head or mainbeam lamp next job.I would favour larger main beam myself its larger.
I am confident enough to have a go...ive seen the finished result and they look fantastic.Only reason i wouldnt buy the ones i found was the lens plastic was marked with some oxidisation,i would want mine to look shiny new.

As long as you keep the heat gun moving and away from the front of the lens your safe. Once separated the u channel of the lights will be a bit messy but a bit of heat will make it look better and when refitted this won't be seen anyway. I've managed to source new lenses for my 8th gen on aliexpress so I'm planning to do the lights I removed. Biggest advice I'd give is get spare lights so theres no rushing to refit.

Yes sir i might even buy a brand new set of lights and mod those...just fit to car once finished. They dont cost the earth.I just need to source some good halo/angel lights, not sure about the ones i see on ebay? Past experience not good with other LED bulbs i purchased there.

I think these ones really update the look of the front end but not sure if they are legal in the UK or Europe.
Not sure what they are worth in terms of light output either.

Those orange lenses kill it for me but i do like the arrangement of the rest of the unit.I still favour the halo/angel look with maybe a DRL incorperated within indicator lens.Ive seen a thread here covering the latter but my prefacelift lights have the orange lens rarther than the later clear ones so rules that out with current lights.

That is a good looking car great job! Im looking on aliexpress now and have found the exact same lights which i am going to buy now.I dont care for the colour version only the pure white rings.
Can you tell me how long you have them fitted and if you installed yourself how easy?
I know these are DRL but would it be possible to tap into side light circuit? This way i can switch them off during the bright sunny summer months thus extending their life.Dont care about buying replacements, its the hassle of gaining access to lenses when they eventually burn out.
Any advice welcomed

The hardest part is to open the headlight. Use a heat gun (not too hot or the plastic will melt) and be careful in every steps. Then use a kit like this to automate your setup.
You can eventually tap into the side light (I dit it first) but each time you'll turn them on, it will affect the dashboard light and it can be very annoying in the long term.
Any way, if you go GEERGE, I have them for more than one year now and they still work perfectly fine.

Ok i have just purchased the GEERGE rings you have but not sure how long they will take to ship? Gives me at least a few days to begin work figuring out how i want them wired and spliting headlight unit.As you advised i will take great care...i did previously try to open an old headlight i'd replaced but it cracked. My fault though as i rushed and know now i needed much more heat and even more patience lol.
As well as looking pretty cool i think this is the answer to the poor light output on the accord, the sidelights in particular are terrible. It's about being seen on the road rarther than styling for me and as such i did not want to go down the road of fitting extra lights into bumper.
Thanks for the advice i will post pictures of the finished upgrade soon :)

Try this to replace your sidelights and this for your indicators. I live in France but I'm sure you can find similar bulbs in UK. As you can see my indicators are almost white now. Capture d’écran 2020-09-17 102113.jpg

Looking good! I have tried 3 different led bulbs in my sidelights but they either not bright enough or they dont last long...thats ebay for you.Anyway i will source a good quality pair of indicator bulbs. Also while i have the headlight units open i planned to throw away the wedge sidelight housings and fit something different in there.I will find something when ive time at the weekend.

Hi there my angel eyes have arrived so i will fit them next week.
One question....did you use the 3M self adhesive pads to secure the rings or did you purchase a liquid adhesive/glue?
I dont feel they will hold long term and of course only want to do this job once.splitting the headlight unit maybe harder a second time once ive resealed it!

The other option is picture wire drill 2 small holes in the light bezels then twist the wire to hold the angel eyes on. That seems to be the preference of pro builders when I looked into it.

Yes i had already planned to fix in 2 points from behind the rings...any small drilled holes wont be visible.Making progress anyway, units seperated nicely today (plenty heat and patience) then next step is restore outer lenses as best i can before i move onto halo install itself.20200927_190143_compress66.jpg

I would do headlight restoration afterwards personally as its important not to touch the inside of the lens as cleaning them inside in anyway is a nightmare waiting to happen.

I shrink wrapped mine so there was no rush but have decided to redo as I've found and purchased new (8th gen) lenses as after a Lot of sanding and polishing there not 100%

I spent quite a while today polishing lenses but my results are same. They not perfect but they wern't too bad in the first place so for now theyll do.Rings fitted anyway and units reglued so they are ready to refit too car tmrw.
If they work well as i expect i will buy a brand new pair of lights and angel eyes and do job again....i think to get the best look you need crystal clear lenses (new)
I had a quick look last night but could not find the pre facelift ones anywhere.I did find 8 gen tho on aliexpress

Just to add anyone else thinking of doing this in future dont be put off by that second image. It lost detail in compression so appears blurry....it is not, they are very neat and sharp with a perfect light output and temperature.

Running with sidelights then i have control on when i use them. Its in for MOT tomorrow so i will find out if thats legal? lol,no ones said otherwise so guess im good.
While i was fitting rings i also replaced the sidelight fittings with 15mm fisheye leds. They slotted perfectly into the holes vacated by the old bulb holders with a drop of glue to keep them secure. As ive used them elsewhere i know they last much longer than the garbage wedge bulbs ive tried so far.The light output and temp is perfect match with the angel eyes to which was my main aim.
