Hi all just joined today after googling my way to you and boy am I glad I did !

I was trying to find out a bit more about the VSA warning light on my dash and was horrified at the tales of woe and prices Honda were quoting for the replacement part.

Fortunately and thanks to whomsoever posted the Honda Technical Service Bulletin from last year I was able to arm myself with all appropriate information to submit a claim[sup]1[/sup].

I only put the car in for a diagnostic test today and this afternoon was advised the claim had been accepted under warranty and fixed tomorrow morning no less !

Very glad I found you guys here was me thinking these things were bulletproof ;-)

I have a general interest in other mods so will look forward to your expert advice in other areas too shortly !

[sup]1[/sup] It cracks me up when a Service Manager asks how I came across this information - it really is very much a case of Power to the People when inside information like this is shared - why don't Honda issue a recall for this v a TSB it is a safety related issue after all ?!

Cheers again

Newbie on here but very impressed by the depth of knowledge

Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of the Honda Technical Service Bulletin mentioned in this post as I have VSA light issue and want go to my local agent well armed if I can

Cheers

Phil, have you diagnosed it as a faulty VSA modulator or are you just ***uming? It might also be a wheel speed sensor.

Do you need to have a full/ Honda service history to make the warranty claim? What are peoples experiences without full service history?

Went into my local dealership the other week and they said I needed a full Honda service history as it's a warranty issue. And he tried to claim that if it wasn't serviced at Honda then there is no guarantee of the workmanship on the service. How do you get an oil and oil filter change wrong when you're using genuine parts?! So I pointed out that it's not a service item. His response was the payment is a goodwill gesture which will reduce without the Honda service history as it's a brand loyalty thing. I couldn't be bothered to point out that a warranty and a goodwill gesture are legally 2 separate things so the warranty can't be a brand loyalty goodwill payment.

^^There are multiple checks done when a car is serviced, not just an oil and filter change. The recommended brake fluid change is also every 3 years. I've heard of people being refused this due to never having the brake fluid changed. It all depends how far you're willing to take it. Get onto honda facebook page and let them have it, then see what response you get ;)

The standard 3 year service is oil and brake fluid change. As the 3 year service was the 1st service the car had in my ownership I changed all fluids and filter (air filter, pollen filter, oil + filter, fuel filter, gearbox oil, coolant, brake fluid) which was far more than would have been done at Honda. I made sure the brake fluid change was included as it stated it in the service schedule. It was done using genuine parts with receipt from HH and receipts for fitting. All they'd done in the previous 2 years was change the oil and filter. The 3rd year service was done on 27k miles so it's been maintained well within Honda's recommended mileage regime. The service manager was just giving it the 'But wasn't done at Honda, it's not on our records, so it's not good enough' routine.
