Any buying advice for quiet, durable tyres for motorway driving

Try the same thing in 5th/6th gear... monitor the fuel flow rate too.... ;)
 
Try this on a ( pref deserted ) flat road, accelerate to 50, put it in fifth and take your feet off the pedals, time how long before you are doing 30. then try it again but this time put the clutch in to disconnect the engine from the wheels, I bet a pound to a penny that the second option takes a heck of a lot longer to lose its momentum......

Yup I'm with you. And in my case the engine breaking affect will be much greater when (coming off the motorway) having been doing say 80 down to say 20 (on the roundabout). The point being at 80MPH the braking affect of the in gear engine (with feet off pedals) would be much greater than at 50MPH.
