Arch rolling and the plastic inner liner

I'm hoping to finally splash out on a decent set of alloys for my tourer but I know I'll have to roll the arches to get them to fit without catching, but I'm just wondering what you lot who've done this have done about the plastic arch liners? In the past with cheaper bangers I've just ditched them, but I'd like to keep that protection if possible?

When I had arches rolled on mine I cut the inner arch and pinned it in place with the rolled lip.

I just cut a couple of inches out of the liner in the rear and left it open, been meaning to add some waxoil or something similar to the now exposed area though.
