Quick question before I call Honda if I may..

I had a new fuel filter fitted at my last service (May 2012) I now have the tell tail signs of a fuel filter problem (car backing off under high reving, going into limp mode etc). Are fuel filters guaranteed for a year or not? Is it common for one to develop problems in 10 months (about 14k miles).

I would like Honda to say 'Yes it's guaranteed have a new one for nothing and the diagnostic is free!' but I can't see it happening!

Thanks

I really doubt it'll be covered by a warranty, I imagine they'll blame the problem on poor/dirty/contaminated fuel. And they might be right.

You really need to get the ECU error code read off and ****ysed, as it might be a completely different problem... no point in paying for a new filter that you don't need!

could be condensation in the bottom of the filter due to cold weather, and under-filled tank, try draining the filter via the plug at the bottom then re prime, or just give the priming bulb a squeeze till it's hard first that may clear your problem. The book says renew at 18,000 or 24 months, I did over 30,000 before mine started playing up.

If it's covered by the one year warranty and is found to be faulty, then of course it should be covered, but a tad unusual if it is faulty I'd say
