Hi Daniel,

It's nice to find other persons from Malta uniting with the world to resolve our problems regarding our Honda's online.

How much mileage does it have?

JS

There's a TV programme on BBC at the moment called "The Battle for Malta" (the most bombed place in the world in WW2)

yes it was xd... glad i wasn't born at that time.... poor ancestors of mine...
what about my engine problem guys???? because at the moment i am jumping to all sorts of conclusions such as why is a tensioner so costy???

There are quite a few threads on the diesel belt.
Apparently you're better off with a shorter one, I think it bypasses the tensioner. I might be wrong though as mine is the 2.4 petrol.

Anyone with a diesel know more ?

i think the shorter one bypasses the idler not the tensioner.... dunno... new to i-ctdi... new to honda....

you're right

maybe try the shorter belt anyway, I think the shorter one puts less strain on the tensioner

over to diesel people to give you better advice .......................

Jon_G you think it is the alternator?
also any p/n for the shorter belt?

I can't be sure, sorry.

First thing I'd do is take off the drive belt and see if the noise stops... then you'll know for sure it's something to do with something connected to the belt. You could also then feel for worn bearings, particularly in the alternator. The original long belt did put a bit too much strain the alternator bearings!

For Honda part numbers, enter your details into this Honda dealer's website, it really is very good... http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_catalogue_C01.php but it would be cheaper to buy the belt elsewhere (as mentioned in the thread I linked to earlier)

guys look closely to the belt as it moves between the tensioner... the belt wobbles around the tensioner... could it be the bearing of the tensioner?

^ very difficult to say, try what Jon said, remove the belt and feel the rotation/bearing of each part. If you're lucky, it might just be the belt, the belt on my car made a similar noise before I replaced it. I'll see if I can find the thread where I wrote about it.

edit: here it is, IIRC it was similar noise, and I thought it was the tensioner at the time

I might even have a video of it somewhere (never uploaded it anywhere at the time)

good news from parts... went to a shop today,,, japan parts... they have parts for the accord diesel... owner and 2 workors have i-ctdi accords...
the tensioner i bought original oem for 39euros and the belt i bought for 34 euros inc vat... the belt is the small one so im doing the mods... i gues i had it quite cheap... if you want i can buy and ship parts... new part pm me if you need to check something... shipping is not free though... xd

Ok so i bought this part and on lings it says PULLEY COMP,IDLER p/n 31180-RBD-E01.... my question is this the tensioner or the equivalnt of the tensioner? it is identical... i can swear its the same....

it's the pulley on the tensioner, not the tensioner itself. The tensioner is the "spring-loaded" block that the pulley fits onto. You've probably seen that the price on Lings of 31180-RBD-E01 is €48.84 (which is the Honda price) so the prices you paid are in the right ball-park

122000 miles yours???

Hi dan, Mine has 77,000 miles still. As I've seen in your video, even mine does that movement of the belt but very slightly, however it does not make any sound or noises.

Also what is that japan parts shop you're speaking of? is it the one in qormi?

Thanks JS

Yes its the one near cambros silencers... I gues check your belt and check for the idler pulley if its there remove ot and put shorter belt....
