Trying to modify bonnet to gas struts, I had this previously on my Insignia and loved it. Really struggling to find anything that'll fit straight in. The plastic side trims in the engine bay probably making options limited. Anybody on here done the modification with any success?? If so spill the beans

bit of advice based on anecdotal evidence but here goes
I don't recommend ebay special gas strut conversions that mount directly to the hinge. on cars that were delivered with this type of hinge, the hinge to hood mount is designed to spread the load or the hood is built to withstand the increased leverage required to compress the strut
tldr, if the strut is too stiff, you can kink the hood over your hinge
