Having spent a fair amount of time looking on these forums for advice and solutions to a rear brake bind of which my car was/is suffering, i decided to take my car to my local garage to get it diagnosed.

I dropped it in yesterday lunch time, explained what i thought was happening to the brakes( hot wheel after a short drive )and started the short(ish) walk back home.

3 hours later i get a phone call, telling me i needed a new caliper as it had seized, new discs and pads as they were cooked and the disc was blue??

I said fine, get them replaced and keep me updated of the progress. 2 hours passed and i get another call from the technician saying that they replaced what they had talked about, but the brakes were still binding and the next step would be a replacement brake hose.

Fine, i thought, they probably should have checked that first,so i let it go, as i kinda need my car for the weekend.

Which neatly leads us into today, i get another phone call, telling me that they replaced the hose and the problem is still there!!!! i cannot put into words how frustrated i am about all this, its really starting to get me down. Apparently the caliper is not releasing so they are working there way backwards towards the abs module or the brake master cylinder which apparently is gonna cost big bucks if it is that.

How likely is it that it is the brake master cylinder of abs unit? Surely if it was either of these would'nt it affect the other brake discs?? and not just the passenger rear

The technician said something about speaking to mate at honda in northampton to see if he's missed something.

Any idea's of what else it could be or maybe something they should have done?

What about handbrake?Maybe not realise disc.

Sounds strange - if the caliper isn't releasing the the fluid pressure isnt releasing (if the caliper is healthy). This would throw an ABS/vSA fault me thinks.

As suggested I'd check the handbrake and flush the fluid

UPDATE.

Phoned the garage up this morning about any possible progress and they were in the process of making up some makeshift brakelines to try and bypass this certain part which they thought could be causing the prob.

Low and behold it worked. they took it out for a test drive and there was no binding at all, the caliper was working as it should.

The part that is faulty is a four way valve, which is on order from honda, hopefully i'll get the car back on tuesday.
