After getting the rear discs and pads replaced on my 2006 tourer both sets of brakes were binding. The mechanic replaced the calipers but when I drove the car away fuel consumption was poor and when I got out there was the smell of burning pads and the alloys were hot to touch so back to the drawing board. He's ordered new sliding pins for the calipers. In the event that doesn't solve the problem are there any other suggestions for the cause please?
Checking through my service records, the calipers he replaced dated from 2011 and 2013.

The pads are probably binding in the runners. I always have to file the edges of the ears to make them fit well without binding. And do use a decent grease, preferably ceramic.

I'm with Jon on this one. I've found that if you're not using genuine Honda pads, they always sit tight in the calliper. Had similar issues with the FRV which has a similar setup to the Accord.

Did you replace calipers?

He filed the pads and the new sliders have helped as well. He didn't charge me for the extra work as he said it should have been done right first time so that's all fine.
