Brakes issue

Hi,this is my first post and would like say HELLO to everyone.
I could not find exactly same issue in "topic search" so hopefully someone may guide me in a right way.
So something went wrong with my brakes today after being forced to brake heavily.During braking,ABS kicked in and shortly after,I noticed that brake pedal became hard/stiff,catching pretty high(higher than before) and is not as effective as it was before.What is quite noticeable, that now is hard stopping rather than soft and control as was before.
I wonder if anyone had the same or similar problem and could put some light on this issue before I hit a garage that will charge me arm and leg replacing tons of parts.
Just to add that its 7th gen Accord on 56 plate 2,2 diesel.

Sounds like it's rattled an air bubble out of the system and self-bled. They can get trapped at the VSA unit.

What is best way to check this Goodluckmonkey? I connected small OBD2 to check if there are any faults in ECU but shown nothing.

I would start by bleeding the hole brake system with fresh genuin honda dot 4.
Check calipers are not sticking on the rear also as this is a known problem on the 7th gen tourer.

Plugging it in won't tell you if you have air in the brake lines.

Yes,I am aware that it will not tell me about air in lines.I plugged in to check if there are any faults that may be related to ABS,VSA or anything else.

Thanks for this suggestion.I wasn't aware that sticky calipers are common problem.Will bleed the system and check brakes tomorrow and see how it goes.

Sounds like your brake servo may have failed. Get it diagnosed properly and if it is that buy a second hand one off eBay and fit it yourself or get an independent garage to fit it for you.

Those small readers don't pick up ABS codes by the way - only the expensive ones do.

So I bled my brakes yesterday and checked calipers(these are fine) and still got the same problem.Unless someone has some other ideas,I may not get away without visiting garage.

So after bleeding, your pedal is still very stiff, what was the fluid level like before you bled them and what procedure did you use for bleeding them?

Fluid level sits just below max level mark.I bled brakes diagonally-front offside/rear nearside and front nearside/rear offside.

I believe the procedure is to start at the left front and work clockwise from there, so LF -> RF -> RR-> LR, but I don't know if doing it in any order will make a difference.

It could be that you pressurised the system and something has locked/trapped in the lines.

I suggest you head off to and empty car park/open space and safely try recreate the baking effort.
