Hi folks,

My '07 Accord CDTi needs pads and discs all around; I have a couple of questions if I may..

1. Is genuine Honda actually worth the (considerable) extra money?

2. ***uming I have a full normal toolkit, do I need any special tools for doing the job myself?
(I am asking the second question on behalf of my friend who is competent, who I will be handing cuppas to, and buying beers for)

Thankyou to everyone who has taken the time to read this, even if you can't/don't reply.

Kind regards, David

I used pagid on mine they have been fine. Mine is an earlier model I used a caliper wind back tool but you could use a g clamp.I would make sure you have an impact screwdriver for the brake disc screws mine were very hard to get out and I had to replace them.

I replaced the 3rd party pads on mine when they wore out with genuine Honda, and found them to be much better than those that were on. Having only changed them the once I can't really say if another type are better in terms of value or performance.

If you're in a tourer you'll do the pads with a few basic spanners. If you're in a saloon you may need a wind back tool for the rears. As for the discs, do a search, I'm pretty sure I've read an impact driver is almost a certainty to shift the small retaining screw.

As above,

1 - No, I replaced my brakes all round with brakes from GSF. Decided to pay an extra few quid on the discs for the ones which have been treated on the edges so they keep looking neat for longer. Don't remember the make though.

2 - impact driver

I replaced the brakes discs and pads, front and rear with EBC Ultimax compound i.e. equivalent to OEM on my accord. So far pleased. I bought the parts direct off the EBC website http://ebcbrakesdirect.com/en-gb/. (got ebc brakes on my hornet600 too-very pleased with the bite)

Did not need any special tools, neither did i use an impact driver. The calliper carrier bolts could be a ******* to get off, but wd-40 and a weighty hammer could solve the issue.

I did replace front disc and pads with Pagid brand on the Civic I previously owned . However after 1 or 2 months brake discs had warped hence had epic brake judder. Not a fan of Pagid since then.
