Seats install in my Accord Sport GT

Coming from a Honda Integra DC5, I found the half leather sports seats not as supportive.

Initially I was going to get a pair of seats from an Euro R, or at least the seat rails from a Euro R

I went to Honda to enquire about the costs for these…I had to order each component separately..
I priced up the vital components, the adjuster slides, brackets and levers..

A Total of £676.32 not including the costs for any of the fixings or plastic finishers.

I thought this is rather expensive, so decided on the aftermarket route, with a lot of trawling and google translate, I found some Bride Rails from Japan online, RO H099 and RO H100

I called up a mate who lives in Tokyo and got him to order them, he got them delivered to him and resent them to me, they were here in a couple of weeks, with all the shipping and Import Tax, they came over £400, expensive but at least a £250 saving.

Next up was to find some seats, I looked on ebay, and gumtree for some second hand Recaro seats.. all the ones on sale were in crappy condition, either they had rips or cigarette burns in them ;(
The immaculate ones were going for about £800 a pair, I decided to buy a brand new set of seats instead.

I found a place in Nottinghamshire, GSM Performance, not so far from me, made an appointment and I went to try out all their seats, the sales person - Garreth, was on point. I really liked the Recaro Cross Sportster CS Reclining Sport Seat but at £1000 per seat it was out of my budget

Off all the other seats I tried, the buddy club seats we my next favourite, these were supportive, comfort and position is excellent, and decided to to get these, at £499 each, they were just in my budget

The original seats in the accord comes with airbags, which ment that the airbag lamp would illuminate on the dash if I did a straight swap, Garreth advised I get 2 recaro airbag simulators, at £70

however I later found out that I needed to a bit of soldering to get these to work as ‘Plug & Play’ without damaging the original Honda Harness, I would need to buy another 2 honda harnesses connectors and solder the them together. If I return to the original seats, everything will still work as it should.

unfortunately, these seats didn’t directly fit to the rails, If I had bought Recaro Seats, these wouldn’t be needed so I had to get some adapter plates made up, I measured up the seats and the rails, drew the plates on the computer and sent the file off to the local fabricator, who made them up in a couple of days

The Install

1. Disconnected the battery, and waited 10mins, so there is not residual power in the side airbags.

2. Removed the 4 bolts holding the original seat and disconnected the airbag, and (driver) seat belt detector

3 Remove seat from car

4 Transfer the seat belt buckle from the original seat, to the Bride Seat rail

5 Attach front and rear adapter plates to the seat rail

6 Attach seat rail to bottom of seats

7 Connect airbag simulator to harness in car

8 Insert buddy club seats into car (tie airbag simulator to bottom of seat)

9 Tighten the 4 floor bolts to retain the seats

10 Repeat steps 2-9 for passenger side

11 reconnect battery

Total Cost about £1600 and installed in about 1 hour

Crazy.

That's some serious commitment to the accord.

Looks great.
