What's new

Can someone confirm these tyres are ok?

They will be fine for your car. I had Nexen N6000 tyres on mine and found them to be great tyres.

They are actually owned by Mitchelin so are far from your average budget tyre. Very very good tyre for the money.

Hi all...quick question will these tyres be ok on my Accord with the load rating etc?

My link

Thanks alot
Tom

I think you will find the minimum rating for the 225/45/17 tyre is 91 (94 being the Xtra Load or reinforced) - I think from memory the speed rating should be Y but you should be ok with W (i've had W on mine in the past).

I've got the 4000's on and they are fine.

I've also ran on the nexen n6000s and they were were really good. Definitley recommend them :)

wow they seem like a great price- need a new set of 4 and did a wee search there for n6000s in a 16 - Think profile is 205/55/16 -

would you guys recommend these over the falken 452?

I agree Nexens are very good tyres, by no means are they a budget quality brand.

They are an independant though, not owned by a bigger company for instance michelin. Michelin has Bf Goodrich and Kleber in its stable but not Nexen

I've never had falkens, but the Nexen tyres were certainly the best "budget" tyres i fitted, and i've had some horrible ones before, the handling on really nasty budget tyres is nothing short of dangerous. The accord definitley appreciates some decent tyres.

Currently runnning Pirelli p6000 with the new wave pattern on the front and they are very good too, not too expensive.

Do you really need to buy high priced race quality tyres for a family runabout that is only used to collect the shopping and the school run?
The Big boys now make the budget ranges! They realised that the only way to compete at the "lower end" of the market is to make budget ranges; they are usually made in the same factory as the High priced tyres! They use different names simply because if they put "premium brand" names on them then no-one will pay the high prices for the others!
Every premium company makes-or has made for them-budget ranges, have a look at this list of brands.

Wheres this list from Buddy? Michelin themselves deny making Nexen tyres apart from providing some technical ***istance for the N8000.

If its originally from tip top tyres, there are a few errors for instance Yokohama is Japanese, Goodyear owns dunlop and of course the michelin/nexen mix-up.

This does not alter the fact Nexens are pretty good.

i can't remember where i found it to be honest it has been lurking on my PC for a while. After a little more digging it seems there are a few inaccuracies in that post.

DUNLOP Originally Irish company now worldwide ---- John Boyd Dunlop (or perhaps that was McDunlop  ), who invented the pneumatic tire, is the man behind the name of the original British Company, not Irish. Today, they are owned by Goodyear and Sumitomo in a joint venture (75% - 25%). Asia is the only Continent where this alliance ratio is reversed in favor of Sumitomo.

GOODYEAR UK manufacturer owned by Dunlop group ---- Goodyear UK is a division of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, an American public company who owns part of Dunlop, not the other way around.

KLEBER French company produces 180 different brands ---- Kleber is simply an ***ociate Brand of the MUG group (Michelin, Uniroyal, BF Goodrich) Michelin does have some of their private brands made in the Kleber plants (as they do elsewhere), but nowhere near that number (180) anymore.

NEXEN Tyres are made in Korea by Michelin ---- Nexen is a small South Korean manufacturer without ties to Michelin. It does however have an alliance with the OHTSU Tire & Rubber of Japan.

NOKIAN Are made by NOKIA (the mobile phone company!) in Netherlands ---- Nokia sold it's shares years ago, now BFS Europe (Bridgestone) is the majority share holder.

PIRELLI Italian company in partnership with Dunlop ---- Absolutely no alliance between these two companies.

YOKOHAMA America and China mainly sporty tyres ---- 100% Japanese company that manufacture a FULL line of tires, including consumer, light truck, commercial truck and OTR.

Anyway, As you rightly pointed out Nexen make damn fine tyres for the money.
