Is it possible to change the skinny 7th gen steering wheel for a thicker one, maybe from the 8th gen ???

Anyone done this ?

you can stick the wheel from the facelift accord straight on. I have done it and it is much nicer. Has thumb grips at 10 and 2.

Dead easy to do.

Looks like this.

It is probably the same width. And all you do is literally just change the rim. You keep your airbag and function buttons from your original wheel. The wheel is probably a tiny bit thicker with nicer leather (softer) but the thumb pads feel fantastic as you tend to grip the wheel there and it makes it feel really thick. 100% improvement.

Here is one for £35. For that money its a great improvement. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-Honda-Accord-Leather-Steering-Wheel-good-conditin-/260906267944?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbf39b528

You could sell the HFT buttons on this one as they are actually worth more than the wheel.

i was hoping it would be a smaller diameter mate and thicker

the only way you can get a smaller wheel and keep the airbag is to buy a S2000 wheel with an airbag but you will lose the steering functions. Have a look what wheels are available on all the Honda range. Anything is possible with a bit of modding. I believe someone on here has got a civic steering wheel working but with major modding.

I believe Fierycorn has done it.

just be careful of the clock spring mech. and wait a good half hour for the airbag as the charge they kick out isnt fun lol

Here is my wheel. it is definitely thicker than the pre facelift wheel. Its a very easy DIY as well.

And here is a picture of the pre facelift wheel for comparison.

hmmm interesting mod! The thickness does make a massive difference to the feel!

i remeber when i changed my civic wheel to a dc2 momo one and it was a huge difference!

Yeah Anojan has an FN2 Civic Type R steering wheel on his CL9. I didnt know that the S2000 wheel would also work! Thats one to remember for the future as i'd like a smaller steering wheel now too after driving my courtesy EP3
