I went to change the front pads today and failed as i couldnt get the calliper to swing up.

I popped off the dust caps at the back and was surprised to see that i needed a hex instead of a normal socket (I normally work on my Pug) to release the pads.

Am I right in thinking that its a 7mm hex that I need to get this bolt out?

I also had 5 minuets of fun trying to get the wire retaining spring back on, are there any tips to get this back on first go?

Thanks
Tim

Cheers Bret, Ive popped an introduction in the newbie section.

I did also try searching before posting but came up blank so thanks for the link.

The springs should come off quite easy with a long nose plier.

Yes release the hex bolts. You may need a screwdriver to pry the caliper away if the pads jammed in.. but it will come.

just be sure to grease the sliders properly to ensure good braking operation.

The hex is sold as a brake removal key in most motor factors. I paid 4 quid for mine. I must say the accord does have the easiest brakes I've done in a long while..
