Clock display

New to forum. Owned a 2003 2,4ex auto since new. Best car I have ever owned but after 8 years of ownership I have got my first problem.
Intermittently the clock display disappears !! A tap on the top of it seems to make it return. I am thinking it is a poor connection but have no idea where to start.
Has this problem appeared in an earlier topic (searched but no luck ) Is it easy to remove the clock display ??
I welcome any thoughts. Thanks.

Sounds like a loose connection.By the way Gary you are the 2000 member

Thanks for the link.....I think ? davecmr. Exactly that problem. Quite a few poor roads here as well.
Hoping it is a poor connection.
This problem apart I have to say I still love the car.
