Accord 1.8 SE Exec
Hey guys. I got a 2000 Honda Accord 1.8 se exec and am getting a judder at 1st gear only just wen I get to the biting point as am releasing the clutch.. It keeps doing it with engine cold and warm as well. Sometimes it is so bad it feels like the wheels are falling off. Also there is a creak everytime I depress the clutch. Had a look and it is coming from the joint where it goes into the hydraulic pump (I think). Anyone with any idea what could cause this?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Welcome along Shem put Clutch juddering in thee google custom search as this has been covered.
As a quick REF it sounds like your clutch release bearing is shot. But double check in the search box top right

I also have some noises from the clutch housing when I press the clutch pedal, but do not have clutch juddering. Still, sometimes I have a constant noise from the clutch release bearing which goes away when I press the clutch pedal.

Just as Bret said, you (and me) must have a "dead" clutch release bearing. Besides the occasional noise, it seems to work ok, but I am planing on replacing the clutch in a couple of months, when I have time to do it.

Thank you for the replies. I guess if it is a broken release bearing, am looking at taking the clutch out which I would think I would be better off replacing the whole clutch then.

May also be a broken spring retainer on clutch disc, seen this many many times. Complete clutch best bet as taking box out anyway. We charge £360 for complete job including vat and genuine honda clutch kit.

Can you tell me what is the spring retainer with some pictures B)

So just an update, I took the car to a friend of mine today who is an excellent mechanic and he did confirm that my clutch is bad and needs replacing. Oh and he mentioned that it is a big job since he has to drop the subframe to access the gearbox. lol He quoted me £235. (I got a discount) :) I will just have to put up with it for now till I get the money for it. Thanks for ur help guys. Anyway for now I will just have to sort out the knocking at the front which turned out to be the ARB bushes (might as well do the links as well since one has slight play in it).

PS: Anyone know where the fuse is for the rear window defogger? can't seem to find it since mine is not working (I have googled and unfortunately i dont have a manual. In addition i have gone through all the fuse boxes in the car but cant find it or am just blind :) )

If you just slide the box to the side theres plenty of room to change the clutch, saves removing the subframe.

Are you sure on that? That would simplifies things a lot
The repair manual does say it is needed to remove the subframe, but I always doubted on that...

100% you dont have to drop subframe to do clutch on 6th gen accord. Just pop box to side. Done 100's of them.
