Hi please help save my sanity I'm sure this has been done to death but nothing quite matches my issue.Just wonder who has knowledge and experienced this too. So last couple of weeks in particular I thought I had felt the clutch mess around a few times but I put it down to human error. Just a few times its lurched into gear as I have changed gear up.Just ***umed it was me being slack. Then last week I went to join a carriageway and all was well until I went to get away.It revved its guts out and hardly moved.I thought I had knocked it out of gear or had it in the wrong gear?? So I checked and then tried a few others. It just crawled along.I ***umed clutch gone and managed to get in on third only.I pulled over as soon as with it stuck in third.I ***umed a cylinder had gone as it would only change on low revs.I hadnt lost clutch pedal though the pedal was still in normal position. Now its working fine again.Garage have said it smells of clutch but apprehensive to pull it apart whilst still working. They have quoted for worst case, being Dmf.Anyone else experienced this? Earlier in year I did lose pedal once and had to pull it up.Again.Boyfriend said it was probably me or it got stuck on the mat or something. Its not me....I am not inventing car problems!Ideas anyone.Car has done 150k? So reluctant to pay a grand for somethimg that may not last Would i be wasting time fixing this car? I do love how it feels tho.Its the 2.2 cdti

Different car but, i had my dmf go on my skoda octavia mk2 at around 95k I'd been out on a hot day driving round a safari park with steep hills. Later on in a big car park, lots of noise, difficulty changing gears, then all of a sudden it was fine. However i did notice a loss of power and some juddering when i changed gear at low revs and put my foot down. Drove it around for quite a while like that (wouldn't recommend it) and when i had a mechanic friend change it for a solid mass flywheel, it turned out it had siezed, and the housing was covered in bits of flywheel which had been stripped away. It took a hammer to rotate it enough to access the bolts to remove it but the housing was remarkably unscathed. I'm no expert and I'm just about technical enough to attempt a service. But if it was me and If you've got any of the symptoms I've mentioned above and the car is generally well maintained with no other issues, i'd be putting some pennies aside to have clutch and flywheel done.

Thanks for posting back.I have a good garage opposite where I work who have quoted the worst case which is teplacing the lot He did mention that it could be the case. Its driveable but likely to have started breaking up.At 150k am I wasting money though?
