Had a right old rattle from the engine earlier when starting form cold today, it was damn cold out there, it settled down after a few seconds, so can only guess slow flow of oil to top of engine, mind you I did start the car yesterday morning with again severe frost just to move it half way down the driveway and didn't notice it rattle like it did today, supposedly had 0w30 oil put in at last service, so didn't expect this rattling, but as said maybe at it was so cold overnight etc. it was just the slow flow with oil, be interested to know if others are experiencing this with the cold weather at present?

I can't really say for the 2.0, but yes I reckon that the 2.4 can do that on a start (mine does occasionally).
How many miles has it done, and who services it ?

It's done 52,000 and a local Honda dealer services it, had a look at the oil this morning before firing up and with the cold ambient temp' out there the oil's like treacle so that explains a lot, wasn't too bad this morning on fire up, bit sluggish to turn over but again down to ambient temp' I think, also I guess it wasn't too bad this morning as I drove it around for a bit yesterday so chances are there was still some residual oil around the necessary engine parts, the car is getting oil and filter change on Saturday morning so that should help things out a bit!
Cheers Pete

keep an eye on it and update anything further, I don't think it happens often, and I think I am the only other person who has experienced the same thing, albeit on my K24 engine (I suspect an oil pump issue may be developing on my car, which is SORN now anyway)
