Just noticed that the car has a lot of condensation on the boot lid when i opened it the other day is this common or a sign of a slight leak>? :unsure: B)
Check that the screw that holds the spare wheel in place is fully done up. When i took the spare out of my old 6th gen there was lots of condensation driving around with basically a whole in the bottom of the spare wheel tray.
If the bolt is fully home, get some waterproof membrane (about 8-10mm thick) cut around 8 inches sqaure of it and place it over the whole then do the bolt through it. That should stop the problem.
Will also point out the problem i had was MUCH worse in the winter, due to higher levels of moisture everywhere.
I owned a 2001 accord SE EX and it used to leak in the boot in really heavy rain and if the car wasn't on a flat surface. A Puddle would form on the right hand side in a dip in the boot near the light cluster. I ended up putting a towel in the boot on that side just to soak up any water if it did leak. I checked all the seals and even run a hose over it but never could get it to leak doing this. I just put it down to a build up of rain water and it overflows into the boot. check the carpet in the boot to see if its damp after a rainy day. but as for fixing it........ seals might need checking or see if they are sitting flush on the metal rails, but its a hard one to get sorted.
My sister just bought a 2001 2.0 SE and her's has a bit of a swimming pool in the wheel well in the boot, drained it and dried it so hopefully sorted now. nearside rear light has some water in it so could it be getting in behind the light? Was a bit too dark to check the seals.
Could be the seals on the boot hatch - they must be getting on for 10 years old now and all it takes is for someone to pop the boot without thinking on a frosty morning and they're goosed.
I had a leak on accord ex which turned out to be small gap were the panels met under the right light were the sealent they put on the joins in production hadnt quite covered it i found this by lifting the carpet on inside and taking cover of from back oflight and slowly pour water over the top of the lights... took a lot of finding tho.... but i know someone who has accord with condesation on back window but he said the seals have gone on the sun roof and that was causing it... you may not have a sun roof tho...
