Hi guys I recently bought a 2004 accord and I've noticed that the radiator cooling fan doesn't seem to come on when engine is hot. Don't get me wrong the car is not overheating the temp gauge stays steady just before half way but just thought it shud cone on especially driving to work 20 miles away and it being 20 degrees outside also my air con doesn't fan doesn't work I've checked the compressor and that works also bridged the wires in the pressure switch but no joy there either. Anyone else had this sort of problem , I'm gng to get someone to check all the relays maybe it cud be that....

Unless your temp gauge is going above the half way mark I wouldn't. Just below halfway is perfectly normal for our cars.

Hello.
***uming yours is a diesel then it sounds normal. In my 3+ years of ownership I have never heard the radiator fan kick in. Only the A/c fan kicks in when activated. These engines do cool well naturally.

Thats brilliant thanks guys and thanks for quick reply and yes it is diesel 2.2 just going tinker with the aircon now and see if I can sort that out especially in this heat.

No worries Pal, just keep an eye on the tempreture just in case though and also check the coolant level etc regularly. Better to be safe than sorry right.

The fans should kick in when the air con is engaged though, might be worth just checking that.

I think I've heard my radiator fan kick in twice in 6 years and that was on hot days whilst stationary. The air con button does turn both them on however on my 6th gen.

Thanks Andy will do an as for my air con I just can't get it to go on I've tried all the tips and tricks from all the other threads all to no avail so looks like I'll av to get a specialist to look at it

Hi everyone. I have noticed this with my newly purchased Accord Exec diesel. I have had to top up the coolant a few times in the space of 150 miles. It was on the top level, a couple weeks later it was just below the low level.

Have you checked your oil? Traces of mayonnaise residue in the oil?
Head gasket may have gone causing coolant to be lost within the engine.

Any leaks around the radiator? Pipes etc?
From cold, when you start the engine? Is there large puffs of white smoke? Might be sign coolant is being burnt upon start up perhaps?

If you have just serviced the coolant (drained and refilled)? It may need some time to settle, so topping up will be normal
