Crank pulley holding tool

I have failed to remove the crank pulley bolt today, even with a snap on 1/2" impact gun it wouldn't budge. Even ended up slipping the clutch when I tried a BIG bar on it!
So I have conceded defeat and am now going to get the crank holding tool. Does anyone know what size hex I need? Is it the 45mm or 50mm?

Yeah, you really need the crank pulley holding tool. When I replaced the belt on mine, I actually fabricated an holding tool from a large nut, but don't recall what size it was.

Oh, make sure to use good quality socket wrenches and extensions, I broke two extensions and a socket wrench while removing the the damn bolt....

If you take out the starter motor and use a bar to stop the flywheel moving you will get it open.
2 man job but it works.

I saw someone online jack the breaker bar end.

Typically you see folk jump on the end of the bar once the pulley tool is in place but this guy had the bar running down the side of the car (rather than out in front) then use a jack to lift the handle. Obviously you need some method of arresting the bar once it breaks cause is going to shoot up and over the fulcrum.

(my maths, room for error lol)

2ton (jack) x 4ft (bar)
4480lb x4 = 17920 ft-lb

Maybe its not a good idea afterall, but interesting if a bit dangerous method nonetheless

I now have access to the holding tool so I'll be going at this again this coming weekend. I have a 3ft Snap-on breaker bar and a 6ft scaffold pole for a bit of extra oomph if required. I can't wait to beat this thing!
