Dead power antenna

Hi guys!

My power antenna is dead, at least it dyed in the up position. I haven't looked at it, but I guess it's the plastic "guide" that got broken, since the engine still does noise. Something like this:

In the weekend I will look at it, and see what really happened...

Now, my question, is it possible to fit a non-powered antenna to the car? I really never liked that thing.
Has anyone tried the antenna of an S2000 on a 6th car? Don't know if it will fit, or if it would look ok in the car...

on a mr2 yes, you may need to use a aerial extension to make it reach. not familiar with 6th gen maybe someone can shed some light onit

As far as i'm aware it won't be a problem putting the S2000 unit on the 6th gen. Just make sure you get a good seal where you've removed the old one and put the new one in

The problem is that I am not sure if it will be a tight fit, since on de accord, its installed in an almost flat surface, while in the accord it's installed on a almost vertical curved surface. Guess it would be needed some kind of adaptor, if such thing exists :huh:

I believe the earlier sk2 model had a slightly different aerial, not like the later version below

Have been looking the S2000 antenna, and the whole antenna is way to expensive, about 200€...
I guess it would not be easy adapt S2000 mast to the accord antenna, so I guess I will stick the the accord oem antenna, and buy a new mast.

Surely if you used a gromet the correct size and made sure that once it's fitted it can;t move about too much then it should be a problem. :unsure:

The problem is where to get the correct gromet of the correct size which will fit the both the car and the new antenna... If any of you have an idea on this one, let me know.

Pedro, Maplin.co.uk did have a replacement on their website but seems like they dont stock it anymore. Have you tried some breaker yards?

It's not worth it to search breakers in Portugal, finding an Accord in a breaker is very very rare :S

Guess I will buy this one, just waiting for the seller confirmation that it will fit the car:

I have just fixed the antenna, at least for now

I noticed that the antenna made lots of noise when reaching its full length, but until there, it runs smooth and quiet.
So, I decided shorten the antenna by "fusing" together the last two sections.

Here's what I did: With the radio off, I pushed the last segment down the next segment. Then, with the cutting part of a plier, I tightened together the two top segments, as higher as possible, making the marks left by the plier less visible.

After that, turned on and off the radio several times, and "voilá", working like a charm, at least for now, and with a slightly shorter antenna.
I guess I will have no signal problems, only time will tell.
