Hi

Where can I get a good overview of the differences between 7th Generation Honda Accord (diesel) models ?

From what I've been told, I can always get a remap to improve performance (and perhaps even economy at the same time!).
But is there much difference in terms of:
A. road-noise,
B. handling/cornering etc
C. Accessories/optional extras
for a 2007, 2.2i CTDi between say:
- Sport
- Sport GT
- Ex
- Tourer

I'm still struggling to use the search features on this forum... so I cant now find it (!) but some kind person pointed me to a link describing the 7th Gen Facelift but the link was broken, and even when I found a cached version on Google the PDF link was still broken!

With thanks

I think the doc is gone. For most things they're the same, its just the ex has full spec such as heated electric leather seats, auto wipers/headlights, headlights washers, not sure about cruise control and sunroof they may be options. Sat nav and hands free phone were options on all specs. No real performance or handling difference you'd notice. You'll need to drive an estate to see if you're comfortable with the size etc

I understand the estate is 10cm longer... so harder to park (esp if no reversing aid proximity sensor bleeper things). And presumably a bit more sound will get in from the exhaust/boot area... But is the handling very different from a saloon in practice?

The main reason I want an estate is for occasional movements of furniture etc. I currently own a VW Golf which I find extremely useful, and I feel that the hatch-back (with folding down seats etc) is a very sensible design. In fact to be honest I dont really 'get' the saloon design (i.e. with a boot not a hatch back - what the heck is the point in that?[!])

The trouble with Honda Accords though is from what I can see they never made any 7th Generation cars with hatchbacks as such just saloons or full-blown estates.

Being a single guy I feel a bit of an idiot buying a (huge) estate car when all I really need is a little hatchback. But the reason I am planning to buy one is that I am told that if you buy an old one you get very cheap motoring (due to their reliability). Plus I shall be doing a LOT of motorway driving and I am told that a slightly larger car is much more stable/comfortable/less tiring to drive at (motorway) speed.

I was also toying with getting smaller Honda (e.g. Civic?? Insight??) but sadly they dont seem to get very good reviews! (And larger ones e.g. the Honda Legend seem to be insanely thirsty...) Or possibly [shock horror] a different make altogether - say another super-reliable Japanese make? My existing Golf (Y2003 /150BHP /140,000miles ) is noisy under load and doesnt corner very well (i.e. it probably needs new shocks) plus it is starting to get expensive to maintain - so it's probably time to get rid...

Any thoughts?

If you want a PDF version of the 7th Gen Accord Facelift Brochure PM me. It lists the differences between the various models.

If anyone else is interested I also have the PDF versions of the 2005 Tourer Brochure and the 2005 Accord.

Mods: Is there any way to upload the brochures and have them pinned in the 7th Gen section for future reference?

Pete

I think admins are working on this Pete - I've e-mailed Alan some PDF brochures already.

Hi Guys

I still cant find any PDFs of the differences between the 6th & 7th Generations of Honda Accord, nor can I find anything on the various different models of 7th Gen (diesel) (e.g. Sport, Ex, GT? etc).

Any thoughts?

Cheers
J

Nearly all the PDF's were lost. The 6th and 7th Gens are totally different cars.

Pm me your email and I will send you a 7th Gen saloon brochure for the facelifts. They are 2.5 megs each though.

Also, search the site fro a Honda Media portal - lots of goodies on there.
