Aaarrgh!

Quick history - bought my Accord froma dealer who lied about the driveshafts being replaced - got £600 off him by threatening to take it to Trading Standards.

Have managed to replace 1 passenger driveshaft as I could get the part - despite trying very hard to locate a driveside shaft I cant - I have rang pretty much everyone and Honda want an exteortionate amount of money for one...

All the driveshafts are recon replace but this wont work for mu driveshaft due to the wear on it - dont ask me but my cousin who owns a Garage in the north east looked at it and said he phoned the recon/repair places and described the problem and it cant be reconditioned! He mentioned the splines (His word) are going. I trust him as he isnt going to screw his family over!

So... I am thinking of getting rid of it! Not sure what to get... DOnt know if I want another Accord... My wife doesnt...

Are you sure it's the splines on the shaft and not those on the CV joints?

Surely a decent used shaft and some new joints will sort the problem out?

Splines on the shaft... I dont want to throw more money at a used part - no idea if its any good, whether the part is in good condition etc or even has good condition splines... no second hand driveshafts in the North East that we could find so my cousin could inspect the part before installing it...

There are loads of Accords being broken on ebay, I've been searching them for a couple of weeks for a replacement part. There might be one nearer to you.

If you're going to keep the car for a while, you might as well fit a new one. Its painful but it'll fix it for good.

Have you asked Holdcroft Honda for a price with club discount?

Yep - £400 still as need both parts of the shaft...

i told you get these in california, seems i should talk to the wall.

I got inner and outer boot joints from heel toe and they were awesome.

drive shaft issues thing of the past.

selling up an accord because of this is ridiculous tbh.

these items are a rip off in the uk.

btw changing drive shafts is max 2 hours work, considerably less if its any way decent mechanic., you need a special tool to reseat them shafts but most proper garages will have them.

you seem to be getting worked up over nothing.

Not worth selling the car over £400 is it?

Would cost you a lot more to get a different car, and the value of your broken would be a lot less also.

You can't get driveshafts repaired/fixed for £600 (i.e. the refund for this problem) even when your cousin owns a garage? I'm very surprised.

would not use blueprint joints myself, they are cheap for a reason., if you did track days on these they would be destroyed with whatever paper goes into them.

I have to disagree with you toffee_pie.
A pair of Blueprint shafts cost me 230 Euro.
My car has been re-mapped so is producing more torque than standard. I know this because I did it.
It does not do track days, and I'm sure not many CTDi cars do..
However it is driven fairly briskly on the road and it does at least 50 miles a day except weekends.
The Blueprint driveshafts were fitted in May 2012 and thus far the car is vibration-free, and I have no reason expect otherwise.
They are a good quality driveshaft without the silly Honda price.
