Hi all,

This morning my drivers side electric window wound down then jammed on the way back up. It then wound itself all the way down into the door and jammed there too. I eventually got it to wind up again by quickly grabbing the top edge of the glass as I operated the switch. Of course this would have to happen during a torrential downpour.....

Does anyone know:

1. If this is a common fault
2. What the remedy is
3. How much it's likely to cost me to fix?

Thanks in advance.

J

It's probably the window rail that the window is seated in at fault.
If you take the door card off you should see your problem.
It might just be a loose bolt come adrift

Cheers Brett.

Are the door cards easy to remove. From bitter experience I know that it's not usually that easy to do without breaking some clips/trim.

Cheers

I'm sure there is a DIY on the forum to remove the door cards.
Iv only removed the top edge on my old 7th gen so can't comment on this tbo.
I'm sure lots of members has done this so hopefully they will give you the heads up.

Thanks, yes that will be useful mine has started squeeking every now and again... I need to open it up and lubricate I think. I'll have a look on the DIY forum.

My window started working again all by itself. I mentioned it to my garage and they sprayed the runners with silicone spray. Working like a charm now!
