I've just bought a 99 accord LS manual. how big a job is it to fit the H22a7 engine into these? if its unfeasible is there anything that can be done to sap more power out of the F20B6 engines? cos their pretty lazy as standard. will any H22 fit or does it have to be the H22A7 that was in the accord type r? Any H22 will fit. But obviously you want the A7

Tbh mate the cost of an atr is so low these days it makes more sense just to buy an atr.

The original OBDI H22A from JDM 4th gen Preludes won't fit directly, due to the passenger side engine mount being different. I suspect this is the same for the UKDM H22A2 that was built at the same time. Off the top of my head other incompatibilities from the earlier engines in 4th gen Preludes are the fuel line in the Accord not being able to mate to the H22A fuel rail, the P/S lines not being compatible and requiring fabrication (or a P/S delete ) and the fact that the engine is wired for OBDI rather than OBDII... I mention most of this in my thread I think, I've not touched the car for a while though as I'm a wuss and have been hiding from the weather :lol:
As far as I'm aware all later engines from 5th gen Preludes should be a direct fit into 6th gen Accords, as I understand they share the same platform. There may well be slight differences though, so the best bet is a H22A7 definitely. Plus it's more powerful too, the H22A7 and H22A8 are pretty much the most desirable H swap engines, and not coincidentally they are also the most expensive
Funny you guys should mention the swap by the way, I'm finally moving house next month to a place with a 4 car drive and an attached garage I need to convert the garage back from a play room, and then I'll be flat bedding the Accord over for sorting out (finally!)
Going back on topic, as in the above posts it may be worth just buying an ATR. In terms of initial outlay and also insurance it's probably cheaper... Although you may just enjoy taking apart and putting back together cars like I do, in which case it's no worse than chucking money at any other hobby
